Women's Indoor Intervarsities 2011
Caoimhe Quiqley Reports on the 1st Team
After weeks of training hard and several reminders not to forget our student cards for registering the team, November 19th finally arrived. The team was excited! This was it, women's varsities was here!
Our first match was against UCC3, an inexperienced team who, despite the result, were incredibly enthusiastic throughout the game. We won 13-0.
Next up was DIT. This team had some more experience in their numbers, and we knew the game would be a bigger challenge than the first. The score was at full time was 10-1.
After coming top of our group we progressed straight to the quarter finals. We faced our second Cork team of the day, UCC2. Another convincing win against UCC2, we conceded only one point leading us to a semifinal against UCD. In the match against UCD we worked hard to shut down their key players and were rewarded with a win and only 2 points conceded.
The final against UCC1 was the toughest match of the day. The intensity was really high on both teams as we fought for the title of indoor varsity champions and a ticket to UK Women's Indoor Nationals. Trinity women were victorious with a score of 11-3. We were once again named indoor varsity champions and will be travelling to Stoke-on-Trent in just a few months to challenge the best college teams in the UK. Watch this space!
